COMMENTS Second trip to Coyote Lake to do imaging. I probably won't be going to Coyotemany more times to do imaging. It's not a terrible site do to visual astronomy, but not so goodfor imaging. The image didn't come out very good, but I admit that processing was also subpar.

COMMENTS ALmost five hours of exposure and many more processing the image resulted in what I consider my best closeup up to date. The image is a crop from a larger FOV that originally covered the entire nebula, but even before I started shooting, my idea was to only capture the area that you see in the image. That's also one of the reasons I don't have alarger version of the image. This is a version in tone-mapped colors of the original.

COMMENTS I was attempting a mosaic that would include the Heart and Soul nebulas. Finally I abandoned the mosaic and focused only on the Heart, but still had a bunch of shots taken to the Soul nebula, badly framed as a single FOV - that's why you see the object is anything but centered, and a while later I decided to at least process it.

COMMENTS Is the moon really like this? Well, sort of. This is what happens when you take a picture of the moon, neutralize the colors (so the median of the values of R, G and B is the same) and then saturate the image. So in a way, yes, those colors are real, and the only difference is that they've been exaggerated a bit. This was the first time I attempted to take a "colored moon" photo, but I enjoyed it so much I expect to do some more in the future :-)

COMMENTS This was my first trip to Coyote Lake. A bit less drive than Henry Coe, but also less altitude (900 ft versus 2600 ft at Coe) and a bit more light-polluted sky. I didn't take more subs because clouds suddenly formed right up above. The clouds later dissappeared, but I was already onto something else :-)

COMMENTS I went to Coyote Lake to try some tiny planetary nebulas with the C9.25.I started with the Cat's Eye nebula, but that was the only small PN Iimaged that night.
While I don't like the final "look" of the nebula, as it looks almost as ifit was a painting, I was happy to get some detail in the core, consideringhow tiny this nebula was in the field of view.
