DSC License Updater
DeepSkyColors License Update
This information only applies to registered users of any of the processes listed below.
On July 15, 2026, several PixInsight processes offered here at DeepSkyColors (DSC) were upgraded to a more secure licensing system:
- AstroResolver 1.0.3 or higher
- DeepParallax 1.3.2 or higher
- DeepStarMask 1.0.4 or higher
- DynamicDraw 1.0.3 or higher
- DynamicLasso 1.0.4 or higher
- DynamicPaintbrush 2.1.2 or higher
- LayerBlender 1.0.1 or higher
- SpotHealing 1.0.3 or higher.
The versions listed indicate when the new licensing was introduced for each process.
This upgrade requires obtaining a new license key for each registered process. Obtaining this new key is as easy as launching each of the (updated) registered processes, clicking a button, and getting the new key in your email.
However, anyone who has registered more than three or four processes might find annoying having to request and enter a new license key for every licensed process. It can be done like that, one process at a time, but there is another way to update all registered processes at once.
That's what DSCLicenseUpdater is for. It's a small helper process that runs from within PixInsight. All it does is securely updating the license keys of all your registered "DSC" processes listed above, with just one click and a single email verification, all at once. It does, however, require adding a repository and installing a small helper process.
Again, using DSCLicenseUpdater is optional. If you'd rather re-register each process at a time, that's perfectly valid, too. Just follow the prompts once you launch your registered processes.
Download and install DSCLicenseUpdater
DSCLicenseUpdater is only distributed via a PixInsight repository. All we need to do to install it is adding the DSCLicenseUpdater repository to our PixInsight installation:
If you need instructions for adding the repository URL to PixInsight, click here
With the repository URL in place, we now do RESOURCES > Updates > Check for Updates. The DSCLicenseUpdater process will appear as a candidate for installation, automatically selected. We click Apply.
After that, PixInsight will inform us that the install will happen once we restart PixInsight. We do that, and DSCLicenseUpdater will be under PROCESS > DeepSkyColors.
After successfully updating all your license keys with DSCLicenseUpdater, it's safe to uninstall DSCLicenseUpdater and remove its repository - this really is a one-time use process.
