Night Vision

This is the “deepest” nightscape/deepsky composite I’ve done. Obviously, these are two different images, one being a single shot in Yosemite, another one the product of years photographing this area around Orion with my telescopes until I managed to get this far (156 panes mosaic). There’s something more to this image than an artistic blend. The short story, while this view is not an exact representation of the night sky from this vantage point, it’s not too far from it either. Size wise is almost at scale (so it’s really that big!), but I did rotate my background about 20 degrees ccw from “reality”, not for aesthetic reasons but because I’d have no sky on the bottom-left Other than that, like I said, the view is not too far from an exact representation of the night sky from this vantage point – yes it’s a vast area of the sky! Maybe I’ll eventually fill in the rest of the sky I need and one of these years I share an even more accurate version.
