Passing by

A four day road trip started with a bang when the night of July 19, with less than 200 miles driven so far, I decide to do a quick stop at Silver Lake to have a bite. I am literally sitting in the front seat of my truck overlooking the lake, when I notice this familiar shape in the sky right in front of me! Are you kidding me!!?? I quicky get out, grab my tripod, camera, didn’t even bother to check the lens, I shoot right away. 30 seconds later it was all a smudge. The trip couldn’t start any better, and it wasn’t fully dark yet! Indeed, there had been a rescheduled rocket launch at the Vandenberg Air Force in Southern California a few minutes earlier. Pretty amazing that I was able to see it, all the way up, just south of Lake Tahoe, hundreds of miles away, also with a bright crescent Moon lighting up the sky and the ground. A bit of googling reveals that this Falcon X is carrying several Starlink satellites into orbit.
