Moonlight Stars

Can you name this place? Spending one night at this gorgeous valley in the Big Island is one of those things I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. The weather, almost always cloudy – or raining! – at night any time of the year, was the culprit it took me months to do it. I was also hoping to do the trek with some company instead of alone, but as it wasn’t happening, seeing an unusual possibly clear forecast, I took the chance.The moonlight was strong that night, which conflicts somewhat with the type of night photography I like to do, but again, you don’t waste a possibly clear night here just because the moon’s too bright. The image is neither a composite nor an HDR. It’s a crop from a 6 panes mosaic. It was, of course, post-processed, aiming at having the stars to emerge as one of the main visual attractions in the image. Can’t take that away since, as long as the clouds allow, the night sky at this valley in the Big Island is as gorgeous as it gets.
