There’s something to say about places that, although desolated in nature, mostly void of vegetation or animal life, feel so vividly alive on their own. Mauna Kea is no doubt one of such places. It’s easy to see why the first inhabitants of the island considered it the most sacred peak in all of the Hawaiian Islands.It may feel contradicting to have the word “light” in a panorama that’s rather dark, however, the dark cinder cones contrasting so vividly against the starlight-made cones of light – Milky Way on the left, Zodiacal Light on the right – almost named it by themselves.
