The story

You would think that the human figure would give you a sense of scale. It helps, but it doesn’t. This is not one dune with a dark peak. I’m on a lower dune that then goes down, then you go up again as you start climbing a second dune (darker in the picture) farther away. If I hadn’t been all by myself, I probably would have done a few more daring things because this is one of those places that if you don’t go euphoric in one way or another, you’re mentally numb.
