Smooth Ride

Black Rock Desert is always a fun place to spend the night in solitude (cross out “solitude” during Burning Man, of course) under nice dark skies. Too bad it had rained recently and the playa was only fairly driveable, with some rather wet areas and even unexpected “rivers” coming out of nowhere that surely splashed the rental car to fun levels And while having to keep tabs on surface condition so we wouldn’t get stuck is different than the near total freedom feeling you usually get when driving on the playa when it’s dry, it was a fun night where I captured this panorama from the spot we camped, surrounded by 200 square miles (520 km2) of pure flatness.
